Service Description

Education:
Increase public awareness on elder abuse, neglect and self-neglect issues by:

Developing
  • a "train the trainer" model of seniors speaking to seniors
  • training programs for professionals and caregivers

Promoting
  • the CRANE community response
  • the safety and well-being of seniors
  • public awareness about seniors' resources

Delivering
  • public awareness presentations to the community
  • one-on-one interviews, assessments and referrals

Advocacy
  • work with other community groups to advocate on behalf of seniors at risk
  • assess and address service delivery gaps
  • lobby for sufficient, timely and easily accessible services
  • connect seniors and families with resources to help them through difficult times

Response
  • develop a community response protocol; and,
  • ensure adequate referral, follow up and after care is accomplished

Criteria for Service
Everyone is welcome to call, however, Education, Advocacy and Response initiatives are only for residents of Medicine Hat and surrounding area.
